Want to know how to maintain your hair so it is in great condition and healthy? It's really important to understand that there are different hair types and what is achievable with each. That being said, the benefit of hairdressing in 2020, is that we are spoilt with possibilities to get the look we want with the correct tools, colours and processes. For example if we have straight hair, we could curl it using a heated styling tool or a perm. But, the downside is using heat and chemical processes on the hair can cause damage. Our lifestyle, time and hobbies are also factors we need to consider with our hair care.
Below are my top tips to keep your hair looking healthy and in good condition!
Keep your hair appointments to have a cut/trim every 6-10 weeks.
ALWAYS use a heat protector when applying heat to the hair, concentrating on the ends.
Try to do weekly conditioning treatments. A warm towel wrapped around the head while the treatment is on really helps lock in the moisture.
When combing/brushing your hair, wet or dry, always start at the ends and work up to the root area.
Try not to have the bobble too tight when you put your hair up as it can split the hair.
When using heated tools on your hair, only apply the tool once to the hair, not over and over as this will over heat the hair and cause damage. Always keep the tool moving. Never hold it in place for long periods of time.
Use the correct shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. If you have coloured hair, using one for coloured hair can ensure the longevity of your colour.
If you swim, lightly coat your hair with conditioner, this will help the amount of chlorine that gets into your hair.
PRODUCTS are key! Serums are fantastic for helping frizz!
